Since saltwater pearl cultivation was perfected more than 100 years ago, people wondered whether the abalone (basically a snail) could produce pearls echoing the rainbow tones of it's beautiful iridescent shell. Finally, in the 1990's, a company in New Zealand managed to coax blister pearls from abalone shells, and this is where we sourced the mesmerizing pearls in
