I received a call on a Friday in December that she was stuck up on Sheep Island just down the river from Varnamtown

The book has been a great success with a lot of people sharing with me what the project as well what Varnamtown means to them

Breath of the Sound north Carolina I received a call on22" x 30" Oil on panel 5,800 The moment I saw this image, taken by Cathy Rose, my mind was drawn through the doors and out onto the sound. I could feel a hot breeze on my face and hear the gulls. I learned from her that this was a photo of the Sammy Willis and Son Scallop House on Harkers Island. When I saw the photo that bit of history was already gone. I decided to paint it, based on Cathy's photo.
