"I've always found flowers to have great potential as symbols, particularly magical, mysterious ones. A cactus flower seems the most incongruous one of all, a rose taken into extremes, and thus deeply intriguing. For what can be more fascinating than the meeting of two opposites, the soft and gentle with the sharp and stinging? In these prints, however, I chose, as in life, to overlook the sting and
