La Comisión Diocesana de Pastoral de la Salud dio continuidad a su labor en atención médica a las personas con problemas de presión arterial y de diabetes, en la Comunidad de Villa Gautier y zonas circunvecinas, durante los días 14 al 17 de Abril del año 2021.
The Diocesan Health Pastoral Commission continued its work in medical care for people with blood pressure and diabetes problems, in the Community of Villa Gautier and surrounding areas, from April 14 to 17, 2021.

En esta ocasión fueron a entregar de manera personal los medicamentos que todas estas personas (108 en total), necesitan tomar diariamente para controlar dichas enfermedades. La entrega consta de las dosis necesarias para los próximos tres meses y fue realizada por un grupo de colaboradores, miembros de la congregación de la Iglesia Episcopal Santo Tomás: Víctor Castro, Gricelda Vásquez y Carmen Mota. Estuvo encabezada por la Dra. Grecia Bodré y el Lic. Miquea Saintivil, coordinador del equipo de Misión de la Iglesia Episcopal Dominicana.
On this occasion they went to personally deliver the medications that all these people (108 in total) need to take daily to control these diseases. The delivery consists of the necessary doses for the next three months and was carried out by a group of collaborators, members of the congregation of the Santo Tomás Episcopal Church: Víctor Castro, Gricelda Vásquez and Carmen Mota. It was led by Dr. Grecia Bodré and Lic. Miquea Saintivil, coordinator of the Mission team of the Dominican Episcopal Church.

Los medicamentos fueron adquiridos con fondos enviados por el Grupo Médico que organiza la Iglesia St. Eustace, en Lake Placid, NY, y que siempre incorpora médicos, enfermeras y colaboradores de otras iglesias de los Estados Unidos, quienes este año, al no poder venir presencialmente, han patrocinado y ayudado en la coordinación del operativo a través de reuniones usando plataforma virtual.
The medicines were purchased with funds sent by the Medical Team organized by St. Eustace Church, in Lake Placid, NY, and which always incorporates doctors, nurses and collaborators from other churches in the United States, who this year, not being able to come In person, they have sponsored and assisted in the coordination of the operation through meetings using a virtual platform.

Después sostuvimos una reunión de evaluación usando una plataforma virtual para la misma. Escuchamos los testimonios de varias de las doctoras que participaron en el operativo de chequeo de presión arterial y de niveles de azúcar, así como en la entrega de los medicamentos. Una de las afirmaciones en que coincidieron las doctoras fue: Dios nos envió en el momento preciso para visitar a esas personas, pues muchas de ellas estaban en gran peligro, pues por falta de recursos económicos, habían abandonado su tratamiento y ya tenían serias complicaciones. A algunas de esas personas tuvimos que referirlas urgentemente al nuevo hospital público de Boca Chica para que obtuvieran la asistencia médica necesaria.
Then we held an evaluation meeting using a virtual platform for it. We listened to the testimonies of several of the doctors who participated in the operation to check blood pressure and sugar levels, as well as in the delivery of the medications. One of the statements in which the doctors agreed was: God sent us at the precise moment to visit these people, since many of them were in great danger, because due to lack of financial resources, they had abandoned their treatment and already had serious complications. We had to urgently refer some of these people to the new Boca Chica public hospital so that they could obtain the necessary medical assistance.

A partir de esta experiencia, se acordó realizar otros operativos de visitas a esos pacientes, llevando en esta ocasión los medicamentos. Los meses escogidos para esas jornadas son Junio y Octubre del 2021 y Enero del 2022, pues se espera que el Grupo Médico de St. Eustace, realizará su jornada de una semana en el mes de Marzo del 2022, con el auxilio de Dios.
Based on this experience, it was agreed to carry out other visits to these patients, this time bringing the medications. The months chosen for these sessions are June and October 2021 and January 2022, as it is expected that the St. Eustace Medical Team will carry out its one-week session in March 2022, with the help of God.
